Gujarat Govt spying on us, says arrested IPS officer's family
Arrested IPS officer Sanjiv Bhatt's wife and other family members today claimed to have caught an Intelligence official near their house here and charged the Narendra Modi government with spying on them.
Shewta Bhatt and other family members said they caught K.P. Devda, who is Assistant Information Officer with the State Intelligence Bureau (SIB), and held him in the compound of the house before lodging a police complaint against him for invasion of privacy and spying.
"They are using the police force against a police officer. This is not right," Shweta told mediapersons.
She said the official had been spotted near her house in Memnagar area since the past two-three days.
"During questioning we found that he was a policeman and belonged to SIB," Shweta said, adding, 'he was keeping a watch on me and my family'.
Devda, on his part, denied he was spying on the family and said he was doing his duty.
"I was assigned to report about activities of the NGOs here (at Bhatt's house). Which is exactly what I was doing," he told reporters.
