Gujarat win boosts BJP in Rajasthan
The party’s victory in the neighbouring state of Gujarat has infused enthusiasm in the BJP’s rank and file in Rajasthan, even if the fight for supremacy among the saffron leaders intensified.
Former home minister Gulab Chand Kataria questioned Leader of Opposition Vasundhara Raje’s move to take feedback from party leaders in Dholpur. The party leaders are now moving one by one to Dholpur to brief Ms Raje about the ground situation.
The Leader of Opposition has been camping in Dholpur for the last one week where officer bearers of the district units and workers are briefing her. The former home minister told mediapersons, “Agar wo ye kaam party ko confidence me lekar karti, to accha hota (Had she done the same after taking the party into confidence, it would have been better)”, Mr Kataria said.
It may be recalled Mr Kataria and Ms Raje have been at loggerheads after the latter opposed the former’s proposed “Rath Yatra” in May 2012. Ms Raje had demanded that the yatra be cancelled and she stormed out from the party’s core committee meeting and threatened to quit the party, forcing Kataria to cancel his yatra. The party’s core committee met on Saturday in Jaipur but it witnessed differences between the two camps.
The Leader of Opposition was conspicuous by her absence in the meeting, while senior leaders were present.
