Gujjars call off quota protest
Gujjar leader K.S. Bainsla on Sunday called off five-day-old sit in agitation (Maha Padav) and said the agitation has been postponed by few days for a few days in view of a function in memory of former Union minister late Rajesh Pilot.
Gujjars, meanwhile, returned to their villages from their base at Kushali Darrah under Swai Madhpur after Mr Bainsla made an announcement. He said his community members will participate in a function of unveiling the statue of late Rajesh Pilot in Dausa on Monday.
The state government has done all preparations to make the function a grand show. Chief ministers Ashok Gehlot and Haryana chief minister Bhupendra Singh Hooda will be present at the function. Besides Union minister of state Sachin Pilot, several other leaders are also reaching for the function. Mr Bainsla called off the stir after energy minister Jitendra Singh made a phone call to him and detailed about the government initiative to resolve the problem.
“The protest has been postponed for time being. If the government fails to meet our demand, we will launch the agitation again,” he said.
