‘Harassed’ cop commits suicide
In what became high voltage police drama, a police head constable from the west region police recently called the control room to seek permission to commit suicide after his senior officer allegedly harassed and humiliated him over unknown reasons.
Senior IPS officers of the city police were immediately made aware of the “suicide call” and all senior officers of the concerned zone were asked to immediately swing into action and redress the constable’s issue.
The incident occurred around a week ago on Sunday, August 4. Head constable V. Shirishkar attached with the Vile Parle police station was on bandobast duty with his colleagues.
“In the evening, while talking to a colleague, Shirishkar mentioned to him that it had been a very hectic day and so he was very tired. Overhearing this conversation nearby, Vibhute’s senior officer PSI Deepak Pawar berated him and said that if he could not do this work, then he should resign from the service or go commit suicide,” said a source.
Humiliated, head constable Shirishkar then contacted the main police control room and narrated the entire incident.
