Harassment charges: Shaffi quits
Thiruvananthapuram: In yet another embarrassment to the ruling front, Shaffi Mather, economic advisor to CM Oommen Chandy, quit on Thursday following a complaint from his brother and sister-in-law that he was misusing his official position to harass them.
His resignation was accepted by the CM with immediate effect. In his resignation letter, Mather said that he considered it inappropriate to continue in office as it would cast aspersions on the CM’s office.
He urged Chandy to order a probe into the allegations levelled against him. Mather's brother, Rafi Mather and sister-in-law Reshma Mather submitted a complaint to the CM on July 14.
Meanwhile Mather said that he had not spoken to any official in the Government regarding his brother or his business. It's learnt the complaint pertained to an allegation of misusing officials to harass the brother.
