Hawala operator detained
A key hawala operator allegedly involved in the multi-crore illegal investment and money laundering case against former Jharkhand chief minister Madhu Koda was on Thursday detained at the international airport here.
Official sources said Arvind Vyas, who is alleged to have helped Koda in laundering money out of the country was detained by immigration authorities after his name cropped up on the red alert list. They said the Enforcement Directorate was immediately informed and the agency has taken over the case. The ED is understood to be in the process of taking a statement from him regarding his alleged involvement in the Koda case.
Mumbai based Vyas is alleged to have provided money to Sharad Chowdhary, another aide of Koda who use to look after investments abroad.
