Hazare gets Maoist support

The banned CPI(Maoist) is reportedly drawing inspiration from social Activist Anna Hazare and have decided to extend support to the anti-corruption crusader.
This has been disclosed by top Maoist leader Vijay Kumar Arya alias Jaspal , who has told the police during his interrogation that CPI(Maoist) spokesperson Abhay has “extended his support to Anna Hazare on the issue of corruption”.
He said the outfit has also decided to take up people’s issues and expose corruption in the Centrally sponsored rural development schemes. Abhay, believed to be the brother of slain Maoist leader Koteshwar Rao, alias Kishenji, had recently also vowed to avenge Kishenji’s death.
Arya, a CPI(Maoist) central committee member and in-charge of the sub-committee on mass organisations after the arrest of Kobad Ghandy, told his interrogators that the outfit is “thinking of revitalising the organisation by taking up people’s issues like corruption, farmers’ problems, BPL, Bataidar Bill, Indira Awas Yojana and other government sponsored rural development programmes.”
He felt “these programmes were launched to benefit the common man but in the real sense are providing advantage to government officials and contractors”.
The outfit is also going to demand from the Central and state governments to refix the land ceilings to reduce it for the “greater interest of the society”. The Maoists plan to raise these issues “using constitutional means like demonstrations, processions, dharna, padyatra,” Arya, a graduate in Economics, said.
Arya is part of the Eastern Regional Bureau of the outfit comprising Bihar, Jharkhand, West Bengal, Orissa and Assam and was apprehended by security forces in April this year.

I want to begin with a little story that was told to me by a leading executive at Aptech. He was exercising in a gym with a lot of younger people.

Shekhar Kapur’s Bandit Queen didn’t make the cut. Neither did Shaji Karun’s Piravi, which bagged 31 international awards.
