HC dismisses B S Yeddyurappa’s plea

Bengaluru: The Karnataka High Court dismissed the plea of Azad Nagar Corporator Gowramma . The corporator is the key  accused in the murder of RTI activist Lingaraju. Gowramma had pleaded for prosecution charges against her to be dropped. The chargesheet says that she pledged her gold ornaments in her bank for Rs 20 lakh to pay ‘supari killer’ hired to finish off Lingaraju.
 
A division bench headed by Chief Justice D.H. Waghela dismissed her plea to strike out the charges against her plea on Wednesday.
 
The High Court dismissed her plea to drop all charges against her,  after amicus curie Hashmath Pasha said in the case details that police have gathered evidence proving that the corporator had indeed pledged her ornaments to pay as ‘supari’ to the killers. He also said that the amount was received by the accused who committed the offence.
 
“A full-fledged charge sheet has been filed in the concerned court. Such charges can be questioned before the lower court,” Pasha argued. Lingaraju (45), a resident of 4th Cross II main in Vittal Nagar was hacked to death by three assailants in front of his house. Later, the court had registered a suo-motu case. 
 
BSY seeks advance bail in Nirani case
 
Former Chief Minister and KJP president B.S. Yeddyurappa has moved the High Court seeking anticipatory bail in case that has been filed against him the Lokayukta. 
 
BSY moved the court with regard to the land grabbing case in Devanahalli, where an industrialist’s signature was forged to grab 26 acres of land in the area. 
 
The complainant, Alam Pasha, appeared before Lokayu  kta court saying that former minister Murugesh Nirani had written a letter to the government forging his signature. The letter stated that his company was no longer interested in implementing the project. Yeddy­urappa, who has also been named as one the accused has moved the court seeking anticipatory bail.
 
The Lokayukta had registered the FIR under Sec 7, 10, 13, and 15 under Prevention of Corruption Act for further investigation into the matter alleging a land notification scam to an extent of 20 acres near Devanahalli and 100 acres near Dabaspet near Tumkur under Sec 156 (3) of the Cr PC.
