HC orders seizure of ex-Army captain's revolver on wife's plea

The Delhi High Court has ordered the city police to impound the revolver of a retired Army personnel on the plea of his wife accusing him of threatening her with dire consequences.

Justice Vipin Sanghi also asked station house officer of the Chitranjan Park police station to provide protection to the woman as and when she seeks it.

The court's order came on the woman's plea for protection from her husband. In her plea, she had said her husband, a retired Indian Army captain, often threatens her with his .32 bore revolver.

She had also sought cancellation of her husband's license for the weapon.

Appearing for the woman, her counsel Nipun Bhardwaj told the court that out of fear, his client has left her house in C R Park, which is in the name of both the husband and the wife, and was staying in her relative's house at Kalkaji.

Married in 1990, the couple have two young children but due to differences, the husband started harassing her and threatening to kill her with his revolver, said the petition.

The petitioner claimed she had lodged a complaint with DCP licensing and also with the Crime Against Woman (CAW) Cell against her husband but no action was taken so far.
