HC refuses to hear Pacheco's bail petition
The Bombay High Court on Friday refused to hear the bail plea filed by former Goa tourism minister Fransisco Pacheco, arrested in connection with the death of his close friend Nadia Torrado.
Justice Nelson Britto of the Goa bench of the court recused the matter when it came for hearing before him.
The state police Crime Branch accused the former minister for his involvement in the death of 28-year-old Nadia, who allegedly consumed rat poison and died on May 30.
Pacheco's lawyer Amit Palekar said they will now write to Chief Justice of Bombay High Court seeking a bench to hear the bail plea.
The 46-year-old NCP legislator was arrested on July 8 and remanded to police custody for seven days by Margao's Judicial Magistrate First Class (JMFC).
He will be produced before a local court today for extension of his remand which ends today.
