HC sets aside land acquisition in UP
The Allahabad high court on Friday set aside the acquisition of land of three villages in Noida Extension and Greater Noida areas and ordered enhanced compensation for 60 villages in Gautam Buddha Nagar district. The order, passed by a specially-constituted three-judge bench comprising Justices Ashok Bhushan, S.U. Khan and V.K. Shukla, cancels the notification for three villages — Deola, Chak Shahberi and Asadullahpur.
For the remaining 60 villages, the farmers of which had filed petitions in court, the judges have ordered that the farmers should be paid 64 per cent additional compensation and be given 10 per cent of the developed land. The court has asked the government to stick to the 2021 masterplan in the region. The high court said, “No new construction will be allowed on the land until master plan 2021 comes into effect.” The court has also directed the UP chief secretary to appoint officers to probe into the land acquisition.
