Hi-tech love: Muni turns out Muneswar
For Punit Ram, a youth in a Chhattisgarh town, “hi-tech love” proved disastrous when he found his “lady love” to be a transsexual, Muni, and was accused of ditching “her”.
Even as the 22-year-old cursed himself for blindly falling in love with 33-year-old Muni, alias Muneswar, the latter has lodged a complaint with the Tapkar police station in Chhattisgarh’s tribal-dominated Jashpur district, saying, “Woh mujhe chod diye. Ab main badnam ho gayee (He deserted me. It has got me a bad name).”
The bizarre love story unfolded when the Tapkar police rounded up the youth for interrogation following the complaint.
“After the probe, I have found that no case could be made out of the complaint. It is a strange love story that ended sadly for both the youth (who was ridiculed by his kin) and Muni (whose dream of marrying the youth was shattered),” B.S. Netam, inspector in charge of the police station, told this newspaper on Sunday.
The story, according to him, goes like this. One day, Punit, a resident of Kukurbhaka in the district, called up Muni, an inhabitant of Narayanpur village in the same district, on the cellphone by mistake and instantly fell in love with the female voice he heard from the other end.
Subsequently, love blossomed and they continued talking on their cellphones for nearly a month before deciding to get married.
Punit then took Muni, alias Muneswar, who dresses like a woman, to meet his parents.
