Hina: Terror mantra of past, not future
External affairs minister S.M. Krishna Friday said India wants to see Pakistan as a peaceful and prosperous nation. “I wish to reiterate the desire of India to see a stable and prosperous Pakistan living in peace with itself and the world.
That would be in the best interest of everyone,” he said after his arrival in Islamabad on a three-day visit. “We are committed to finding solutions to all issues that have beset our relationship through peaceful bilateral dialogue,” he said, adding, “We look to the future where our two countries are able to live together in an atmosphere of friendliness and all-round cooperation...”
The talks between the foreign secretaries, meanwhile, were described by Pakistan foreign secretary Jalil Abbas Jilani as “positive and very good”.
[Pakistan foreign minister Hina Rabbani Khar, speaking ahead of Saturday’s talks with Mr Krishna, was quoted by PTI as saying:, “Terrorism was the mantra of the past, terrorism is not the mantra of the future.” She asked India to see the 26/11 trial “realistically” and not “emotionally”.
