Hindu radicalism to dominate CMs’ meet
Terror activities of Hindu extremists and Maoist violence are expected to be high on the agenda at the chief ministers conference on internal security to be inaugurated by Prime Minister Manmohan Singh on February 1, 2011. The meeting is likely to see some fireworks as chief ministers of Gujarat and Madhya Pradesh, Narendra Modi and
Shivraj Singh Chohan, respectively, may oppose linking of groups like the VHP and the RSS with the Hindu extremists whose names have cropped up in the investigation of various terror blast cases like the Ajmer, Mecca Masjid and Samjhauta blasts.
Activities of Pakistan-based terror outfits and the situation in Jammu and Kashmir are also expected to figure in the day long conference. The need to strengthen intelligence-sharing, filling up of police vacancies, coastal security and reforms in police forces will also be discussed, official sources said. The chief ministers are expected to give their views on cross-border terrorism, infiltration from across the border and burgeoning Naxal threat.
