Hit by housing row, Karnataka Lokayukta Shivaraj Patil quits
Karnataka Lokayukta (ombudsman) Shivaraj Virupanna Patil on Monday resigned following a controversy that he and his wife owned two housing sites in violation of the rules.
Patil submitted his resignation to Governor H. R. Bhardwaj, ending his five-year tenure just about a month and-a-half after taking over from N. Santosh Hegde.
A retired judge of the Supreme Court, Patil took over as Loakyukta on August 3.
