Hope Opposition won’t disagree on Telangana, says Digvijay
Congress general secretary Digvijay Singh Thursday said that he does not expect the Opposition to go against the creation of Telangana state during the Monsoon Session of Parliament.
“I do not expect the Opposition (parties) to create any furore on Telangana during the Monsoon Session of Parliament,” Singh told reporters at his residence here before leaving for New Delhi.
According to him, the issue of Telangana has been settled once and for all.
The issue of formation of more new states would be dealt separately on the basis of the situation prevailing in those places, Singh reiterated.
“Well the demand for formation of new states has to be dealt separately because of the difference in the geographical and socio-economic status and other issues (in regions seeking statehood),” Singh had told reporters here Wednesday.
There has been clamour for creation of states like Gorkhaland, Bundelkhand and Vidarbha, among others, after the Centre’s nod to create Telangana out of Andhra Pradesh.
When asked for his comments on Madhya Pradesh chief minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan charging the Centre with using central agencies against his government, Digvijay said that Chouhan should first explain how so many BJP leaders had suddenly become rich.
