Horses and camels a hit: ‘Can I take them home?’

After receiving a grand ceremonial welcome at Rashtrapati Bhavan, where he was escorted in by horse-mounted members of the elite President’s Body Guards, US President Barack Obama expressed a desire to take home some of the stately horses.
Official sources said Mr Obama was visibly impressed by the turnout of the Body Guards who escorted him to the forecourt, and said as much to President Pratibha Patil during their brief chat, adding in a lighter vein that he would just love to take home some of the horses and camels. This led to a lot of smiles among the Indian officials and dignitaries present.
On Saturday evening Mr Obama had been welcomed by camel-mounted personnel of the BSF playing bugles and trumpets ahead of the “private” dinner hosted by PM Manmohan Singh at his 7 Race Course Road residence.
