Hospital assistant molests disabled patient

A disabled girl who underwent a surgery three days ago was molested allegedly by a youth in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) of an MCD-run hospital here, police said on Monday.

The incident was reported from Swami Dayanand Hospital located in GTB Enclave area last evening and the accused Rajiv Kumar (24), a hospital assistant, was arrested. The 17-year-old girl, a class 12th student, had undergone surgery on March 30. She was recuperating in the ICU.

The incident took place when the mother of the victim had gone out. When she returned, police said, she saw Kumar allegedly misbehaving with her daughter. She raised an alarm and immediately informed the police and hospital authorities.

Kumar, hailing from Rajasthan, has been arrested, they said. The girl and her family reside in Karawal Nagar here.
