Hunt for killers on CCTV

The footage captured by the closed-circuit television camera placed in Panchratna Building at Opera House might give vital leads to the police about the planter/s of the bomb that killed 10 persons and injured 73 in the area on Wednesday.

Investigators have been going through the footage along with the CCTV operator at the building since 2 am Thursday.
An investigator said on condition of anonymity that the investigating team was concentrating on the footage captured near a scrap vendor’s shop at the blast site.
“Investigating officers were closely examining the footage (of the site) where there was a lot of debris. The police suspects that someone left the bomb there,” he said.
“Just before the blast, three persons were spotted sitting on motorcycles parked in a row. A white Maruti WagonR passed through the lane when the bomb went off. Everything came to a standstill for five to seven minutes with people in pain and bodies lying around. For at least 10 minutes, the footage shows, no one came forward to help the injured fearing another blast,” a source said.
Investigators have also shown the closed-circuit television camera footage to a few people from associations in the market. “The police is trying to identify those who are regulars in the area. They are now focusing on strangers who visited the place,” he said.
Meanwhile, Satish Shah, secretary of Prasad Chambers which also has a CCTV camera that captured the blast site, said, “Our operator, a girl, leaves at around 6.30 pm every day after work. On Wednesday, she left at the same time. In the ruckus after the blast, we did not focus on the CCTV. A police team broke open the door of the control room and took the hard disk that has the footage of the last fortnight.”

I want to begin with a little story that was told to me by a leading executive at Aptech. He was exercising in a gym with a lot of younger people.
