Hyd police shared info with ISI?
Bengaluru: In a major embarrassment and security lapse, the Hyderabad police unwittingly shared information on the twin blasts that rocked Dilsukhanagar area in Hyderabad on Feb 21.
According to a TV channel, minutes after the blast, an ISI operative called Tasleem masqueraded as an Indian Army officer and had called the ACP of the Andhra Police under whose jurisdiction the blasts took place. Later, he called up an NSG officer asking him on the VIP moment.
The officer reportedly told the ISI operative that a senior police officer had passed by minutes before the blast.
Tasleem used a Delhi number for calling the two officers.
Following this embarrassing leak, the Internal Security Chief has sent a letter to all Chief Secretaries asking them to instruct police officers and security officials to follow strict protocols while answering calls.
Sources in the know of security protocols said it was surprising that the caller could so easily gain access to officers involved in probing the blasts. Usually such calls are put through strict verification processes.
An embarrassed Central Government said the matter is under investigation. Minister of State, Home, R P N Singh said a high lever probe will be held into the matter.
