Hyd: Woman ‘stripped, snapped’
Hyderabad: A married woman alleged on Sunday that she was harassed by two youth for sexual favours. She said she was forced to undress in front of the duo, who are her neighbours, and pictures of her were taken on their cellphones.
The incident occurred around midnight on Saturday when the woman went out of her flat to go to the common toilet.
She alleged that the two men, Ilyas, 25, a tailor by profession, and his friend Ahmed, 24, a welder, accosted her and tried to force themselves upon her. She said they made her strip and took photographs of her in the nude with their cellphones. She alleged that they left her after she begged for mercy and told them she had undergone an operation recently.
Amberpet SI M. Shankar said, “On the basis of her complaint, we’ve taken the duo into custody and are questioning them. We’ve seized their cellphones but didn’t find any obscene photographs or video clips of the woman.” They may have deleted the pictures. Further probe into the matter will reveal the truth, he added.
Police said the 26-year-old woman is a housewife. Her husband, who works with a private bus service, was on duty on Saturday night when the incident took place. The couple has three children; two daughters are studying away from home, and her three-year-old son was asleep in their room.
“We’re in the course of framing charges because their cellphones don’t have any obscene content as alleged by the woman. She has alleged that the two attempted to rape, hence, we sent her for medical examination. Charges will be booked once we get the medical reports,” Shankar said.
