Hyderabad boy, 5, beaten up by school principal
A five-year-old Lower KG student was beaten up mercilessly by the principal of his school, the Orbit Grammar School at Indira Gandhi Puram, on Wednesday. The incident came to light on Thursday when the child’s parents approached the police.
The Sanathnagar police booked a case against the principal and owner of school Mumtaz Ahmed and arrested him.
Sources said that the student had received several injuries on his left hand and behind and was treated at a private hospital.
Sanathnagar sub-inspector S. Srinivasulu said that the principal had hit Ghouse with a cane repeatedly after his mother complained that he had tried to bunk class. “On Wednesday, he had come back home from school in the morning saying that he was not feeling well. Realising that the child was lying, his mother took him back to school and requested the principal to persuade the boy to stay in school. However, when he came back home in the evening, his parents found several injuries on his body due to the principal’s caning,” Mr Srinivasulu said.
“When he came back home on Wednesday morning, I took him to school and told the principal to be a little strict on him. I never thought he would beat my son in such a way,” said the boy’s mother.
