I am here to help dad, party: Lokesh

Nara LOKESH.jpg

Some say he will contest in the 2014 elections, many say he will not. But Nara Lokesh is no maverick. His feet firmly on the ground, Lokesh is made of sterner stuff than most believe.
Tweeting tough against Left, Right, Centre and YSR Congress, Lokesh's drive to serve the people of the state is reason enough for his father and Telugu Desam chief N. Chandrababu Naidu to walk that extra mile to return to power in the state.
Q. How would you see yourself five years from now?
A. Actually nothing. I am here to help my father in politics. I am here to help the party to return to power in order to help the masses as there is a massive leadership deficit in the state.
Q. In the wake of assertion by “young turks“ in the Telugu Desam, how will you tackle the old guard?
A. This see-saw battle exists in all the parties. The young say chuck old ideas and let's take over. The old say what do the young know. I am of the firm belief that only a mix and match of both will work for the party to be successful. Both should go hand-in-hand.
Q. Do you think your party would be the `kingmaker' (at the Centre) in 2014 elections?
A. Wow! That means we have already won. Thank you. And why not? But as I said, right now the topmost priority is to work toward strengthening the party and making the party win. After that, let's see.
Q. Your take on Telangana?
A. I respect each individual's sentiment. I respect the sentiments of Telangana, Andhra and Rayalaseema. But you see what has happened now. Individuals and industries and especially the IT sector are attacked. Studies have taken a beating and students are hit hard. There is uncertainty all around. Investors are shying away from our state which was once so vibrant.
Q. Are you an Akhilesh Yadav in the making?
A. (Laughs). No. No. And No. Absolutely not. Chandrababu Naidu is our leader and my primary aim is only to help him and the party in all the endeavours.

I want to begin with a little story that was told to me by a leading executive at Aptech. He was exercising in a gym with a lot of younger people.

Shekhar Kapur’s Bandit Queen didn’t make the cut. Neither did Shaji Karun’s Piravi, which bagged 31 international awards.
