I hit my assistant: Vijayakanth
DMDK leader Vijayakanth on Wednesday âadmitted to assaultingâ his party cadre during his campaign in Dharmapuri late Tuesday night.
Wooing voters in Vanniyar dominant Attur near Salem on Wednesday morning, Mr Vijayakanth said, âI did not hit the candidate. I hit only my assistant. People who get hit by me will become a Maharaja.â
While campaigning for his party candidate in Dharmapuri on Wednesday night, the actor-politician hit a person.
It is learnt from sources that the âattackedâ person had interrupted and murmured something in his ears after Mr Vijayakanth uttered the wrong name as his party candidate. Mr Vijayakanth appealed to the waiting public to vote for one Pandian, while the actual party candidate was Mr Baskar.
The attacked party worker who interrupted to correct the party leader was believed to be the candidate himself.
This is not the first time the actor-politician has vented out his anger publicly. Shortly after making his Assembly debut from Vridachalam constituency in 2006, the actor-politician was involved in similar incident, where he hit his party functionary in full public glare.
In fact, the actorâs outrage had even annoyed some in the alliance. Functionaries of the Left parties felt that his act would not augur well for the alliance.
