IAS man accused of ill-treating mom

An octogenarian woman has filed a complaint with the Madhya Pradesh Human Rights Commission (MPHRC) here against her IAS son alleging that he drove her out of the house and does not pay her any maintenance.
Devika Bai Kabirpanthi (82) says in the complaint that her son, G.P. Kabirpanthi, now posted as collector of Datia district, had been harassing her for years. Not only that, he also threw his own son and daughter-in-law out of the house, she claims.
She approached the commission because the police did not allegedly entertain her complain, she said.
According to the complaint, Devika’s son drove her out of his house a year ago and now she was living with her grandson Kumar Sambhav, who was allegedly thrown out by his father.
G.P. Kabirpanthi allegedly used his influence as an IAS officer to stop police from acting on her complaint.
Kumar Sambhav has filed a complaint with Nishatpura police here saying that his first marriage broke up because the wife was harassed by his sisters for dowry. Sambhav had to pay her an alimony of `12 lakh upon divorce.
When he remarried, the second wife too was allegedly harassed for `12 lakh, to make up the “loss” from the first marriage.
According to Kumar Sambhav, when the dowry demand was not met, the IAS officer turned the couple out of the house.
Confirming that a complaint had been received from Kabirpanthi’s mother, MPHRC spokesperson Rohit Mehta said that an explanation would be sought from the competent authorities as to why action was not taken on her complaints.

I want to begin with a little story that was told to me by a leading executive at Aptech. He was exercising in a gym with a lot of younger people.

Shekhar Kapur’s Bandit Queen didn’t make the cut. Neither did Shaji Karun’s Piravi, which bagged 31 international awards.
