IB conducting security audit
The Intelligence Bureau is currently carrying out a comprehensive security audit of all vital installations, including important industrial units in the private sector.
Highly placed intelligence sources revealed that the security audit was initiated earlier in October following fresh reports of a “terror threat, in form of a fidayeen (suicide) attack, on a key installation of strategic importance.” Once the security review is completed, the IB will hold an important meeting in November to discuss it and plug the loopholes.
The meeting is also expected to finalise a foolproof security blueprint for these important installations. “The security audit is at an advanced stage and expected to be completed over the next few days. We will discuss it in detail at the meeting in November where officials from all important agencies both from the Centre and states will be present. This is a comprehensive exercise as all important units like nuclear plants, defence installations, industrial units, and oil and petroleum refineries are being covered. We are also examining security arrangements for big software companies in cities like Bangalore,” a senior government functionary said.
The government was keen on a security review following the busting of a terror module in Southern India which had on its radar strategic nuclear and defence units.
