I&B to upload its meet on YouTube
In a major initiative to bring in transparency in governmental functioning, the information and broadcasting ministry has decided to get its meetings (related to issues concerning general public like digitisation and community radio) videographed and upload these onto its recently launched YouTube channel.
Sources stated that the step has been proposed to help create awareness about these issue and also to improve transparency. It is understood that with the digitisation deadline of cable television homes in four Metros ending at the end of this month the ministry wants to bring into public domain all relevant information regarding the issue.
The ministry had launched dedicated YouTube channels last month to put the UPA government’s initiatives on the Internet. The channel has so far received about 7,500 hits with an average of 350-400 hits each day.
The dedicated channel also airs news capsules from national broadcaster Doordarshan. It has specially created a two minute news bulletin wherein 20 important news if the day are telecast.
The channel also features press conferences addressed by the GoM on media. On an average about 10 videos of various events are uploaded onto the site each day.
The I&B ministry has also decided to upload short documentaries and trailers of films in the National Film Development Corporation’s archives. While music archives of the AIR and speeches made by important pre and post independence leaders of the country will also be put up.
