IDSA didn’t get permit for construction
May 3: Defence minister A.K. Antony informed Parliament on Monday that the Institute for Defence Studies and Analyses (IDSA) had carried out constructions on land leased to it in the Delhi Cantonment area “without obtaining sanction of the Delhi Cantonment Board”.
The MoD had accorded sanction in 2002 for grant of lease of 6.5 acres of defence land in Delhi Cantonment for construction of the office complex of the IDSA. The IDSA was required to undertake constructions after approval by the Delhi Cantonment Board.
The minister also informed the House that “a portion of the residential complex has been leased by IDSA to M/s Residency Hotels”.
Mr Antony also informed Parliament of project delays in major DRDO projects such as the Light Combat Aircraft (LCA) programme, naval LCA, interception, monitoring, direction, finding and analysis system, integrated guided missile development programme and the Kaveri engine project for the LCA.
