Ilavarasan secon autopsy done
Dharmapuri: A team of three doctors from the All-India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS), New Delhi, on Saturday completed the second autopsy on the body of Ilavarasan, which was later transported to his native Natham village with heavy police escort.
The experts refused to divulge details of their findings and told reporters that their report would be handed over in a sealed cover to the Madras high court, which had on Friday ordered this autopsy.
D.N.Bhardwaj, Sudhir Kumar Gupta and Millo Tabin, additional professors in the department of forensic medicine and toxicology at AIIMS, completed the autopsy in two-and-a-half hours starting at about 2.15 pm on the body preserved in the mortuary at the government hospital here for the last 10 days since his alleged suicide on July 4.
Ilavarasan’s body was found near the railway track with a deep head injury and his family refused to take the body alleging foul play. They would not trust the finding of the autopsy done on July 5 that it was a case of suicide.
Ilavarasan to rest in family land
The family of Dalit youth Ilavarasan has decided to bury his body inside a piece of land it owns at native Natham village near here.
“My son will at least now rest in peace in this small piece of land we own in the village. He went through terrible trouble after marrying out of caste, finally ending in this tragedy”, said the father, Elangovan, who works as storekeeper at the government hospital here.
Ilavarasan’s body was handed over to Elangovan after the second autopsy was completed by the AIIMS doctors Saturday evening and was transported to Natham, about seven km from the hospital in the hearse van with police escort.
Elangovan said the funeral would take place on Sunday in the presence of family lawyers and relatives. He renewed plea to the district administration to permit Viduthalai Chiruthaigai Katchi chief Thol. Thirumavalavan to pay homage to his son.
Mr Thirumavalavan had approached the Madras high court for permission to participate in the funeral but the court left the decision to the district administration, considering the volatile situation in the region.
District collector K Vivekanandan had promulgated prohibitory order under section 144 of CRPC against gathering crowd immediately after Ilavarasan’s death so as to maintain law and order. He also banned entry for Thirumavalavan.
The VCK chief held a press conference at neighbouring Krishnagiri, where he has been camping hoping to get the green signal to enter Natham, and told reporters that the government should appoint a special investigation team (SIT) to unravel the conspiracy behind Ilavarasan’s death.
The autopsy report would only reveal the cause of death and not the conspiracy, he argued.
