Illegal mining case: Jagan appears before CBI for questioning
YSR Congress chief Y S Jaganmohan Reddy today appeared before the CBI for questioning in connection with alleged illegal mining and irregularities in allotment of leases to a firm owned by former Karnataka Tourism Minister Gali Janardhan Reddy.
Jagan, son of former Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Y S Rajasekhara Reddy, who has been issued notice in connection with the mining case will be questioned by CBI officials under section 161 CrPC.
The Kadapa MP appeared before the central probe agency at Koti here at around 10.30 am.
He will be questioned only in connection with the mining case and not with regard to his alleged disproportionate assets matter, CBI officials had yesterday said.
The agency is probing alleged nexus between Jagan and Janardhana Reddy whose company OMC has been accused of violating mining norms in the Anantapur district of Andhra Pradesh, CBI sources said.
The clearance for mining leases to OMC was given during the tenure of Rajasekhara Reddy as Chief Minister.
The CBI recently questioned the then cabinet colleagues of late Rajasekhara Reddy including State Home Minister Sabitha Indra Reddy (who was then Mining Minister) in connection with the mining scam as it found that mining leases for OMC were cleared in an unusual haste, sources had earlier said.
