India ratifies UN convention on corruption
Trying hard to battle the label of being a scam-ridden government, UPA-II now appears to be going all out to shrug off this label.
So the Prime Minister’s office (PMO) issued a statement on Thursday informing that India has recently completed the process of ratification of the United Nations Convention Against Corruption.
Prime Minister Manmohan Singh issued a statement saying, “I have been informed that India has completed the process of ratification of the United Nations Convention Against Corruption. The completion of this ratification process has been under active consideration since September 2010. A group of ministers has been overseeing the ratification process.”
The statement further said that the Convention’s ratification was a reaffirmation of the government’s commitment to fight corruption and to undertake vigorously administrative and legal reforms to enable our law-enforcement agencies to recover the illicit assets stolen by corrupt practices.
