India tells pak to use evidence it gave on saeed
India on Thursday asked Pakistan to show seriousness in eliminating terrorism as at present Islama-bad lacked the will to act against known terrorists.
On the opening day of the two-day secretary-level tal-ks, Indian home secretary R.K. Singh said Pakistan has failed to act against Jamaat-ud Dawa (JuD) chief Hafiz Mohammad Saeed despite India providing every evidence against him. “Hafiz Saeed is invol-ved in the Mumbai terror attacks and Pakistan has failed to act against him. There are many culprits of the attack (26/11) in Pakistan who need to be arrested immediately,” Mr Singh said, adding that Pakistan should present the additional evidence against Saeed and his associates in court to prosecute the suspects. “We have provided every kind of evidence collected against him to the government of Pakistan,” Mr Singh told reporters. He said he had discussed the Mumbai trial during the diplomatic dialogue with the hope that Pakistan would act against Saeed in accordance with “the evidence collected by our people”. He said the issues of Indian prisoner Sarbajeet Singh and the Samjhauta Express were also discussed. India also asked Pakistan to hand over mafia don Dawood Ibrahim besides several Indian Mujahideen leaders believed to be based in Pakistan.
“Both countries have unanimously agreed to work for eradication of terrorism in both countries,” he said.
