India, Vietnam to hone strategic ties
When New Delhi rolls out the red carpet for visiting Vietnamese President Truong Tang Sang during his three-day sojourn in the country beginning Tuesday, it’s not without reason.
For not only will New Delhi be looking to forge closer bilateral ties on the strategic front but also be hoping to enhance the economic and trade ties with Hanoi.
An agreement on extradition and another one that will mark four decades of the resumption of diplomatic ties between the two Asian nations are on the cards as well as well as some other pacts.
But its really the importance that’s being attached to the visit by both the countries that indicates the burgeoning relations between the two. New Delhi also acknowledges Vietnam’s support for lending its “Look East” policy “content and depth”.
The Vietnamese Presi-dent who was in Bengaluru on Tuesday will also be going to Mumbai.
