India won’t share info with Pakistan
India has toughened its stand against Pakistan by refusing to share any information related to 26/11 key handler Syed Zabiuddin Ansari, alias Abu Jundal, recently arrested by the Delhi police. The tough stance comes after security agencies nailed Pakistan’s lie on its complicity in 26/11 and other anti-India terror activities in the form of clinching “evidence” to prove “state” support to Jundal between 2009 and 2011 — the period after the Mumbai carnage. The Pakistan interior ministry had on Tuesday asked the home ministry to share Jundal’s interrogation details and even offered to “cooperate” in the case.
The Intelligence Bureau report submitted to the MHA on Thursday exposes Pakistan’s “double standards” in the fight against terror. It says Pakistani authorities had given Jundal two identity cards (similar to the Aadhaar identity cards in India) besides a passport which he used to travel to Saudi Arabia in April 2011. Pakistan’s move came despite Jundal’s name figuring in the dossiers India submitted to Pakistan.
“Two Pakistani ID cards have been recovered from Jundal. One ID card is in Urdu and the other in English. These ID cards are issued by the Pakistan government to residents for internal and external use,” a top government functionary said.
“It is not Jundal’s interrogation alone, but material evidence gathered from him which has proved that Pakistan not only allowed him a safe passage after 26/11, but he was moving freely and enjoying all facilities in that country,” the official said.
Jundal’s name first figured in the third dossier submitted by India to Pakistan post-26/11 after his name cropped up during the investigations. Hot on his trail for a year, India not only got help from American and Saudi agencies to deport Jundal, the National Investigation Agency also swung into action quietly days ahead of his deportation. The NIA registered a case against Jundal on June 8, charging him with amassing explosive substances like ammonium nitrate for carrying out blasts in the country. The MHA has now asked the NIA to probe the “larger conspiracy” hatched by the ISI-LeT combine to plot terror attacks in the country based on Jundal’s disclosures.
