Indian woman seeks Pak asylum
In a unique way to lodge her protest against alleged molestation by former police officer, Arvinder Kaur of Yamunanagar in Haryana is sitting on Dharana from last four days at Attari international border demanding asylum from Pakistan.
Ms Kaur who is lawyer by profession claims that she has been denied justice by the Indian system.
According to her allegations a former inspector general of Haryana police Mahinder Singh Alahawat, molested her when she approached him in a dowry case against her husband.
The matter came to light when Ms Kaur along with her family members reached Attari to cross over to Pakistan. However, she was stopped by the BSF personals and handed over to the local police.
Later police successfully in persuaded the family members including her parents, brother and sister to go back to Yamunanagar. However, Ms Kaur was adamant and sat on a dharana at Attari demanding that she should be moved to Pakistan.
The lady is alleging that she had been fighting for justice for the past 8 years but no one had dared to take action against the senior police officials on the contrary she was being threatened and harassed.
Ms Kaur is also asylum from Bhutan and Ban-gladesh. She says that she is talks with US Embassy, but there is delay as there she does not have all the required documents.
