Issues related to adverse possessions and the undemarcated boundary with Bangaldesh and the handing over of Ulfa leader Anup Chetia to India, are expected to be high on the agenda during the home secretary-level talks between India and Bangladesh beginning in Dhaka on Wednesday. Home minister P. Chidambaram is also
likely to visit Bangaldesh in February which may be followed by Prime Minister Manmohan Singh’s visit to the neighbouring country in June this year. Top government sources said that New Delhi is keen to discuss the boundary issue with Dhaka and resolve it soon.
Sources said issue like “terrorism, border disputes, un-demarcated boundary, adversely possessed lands and enclaves, killing in the borders and curbing of drug smuggling and human trafficking” will be discussed during the home secretary level talks.
Further, cooperation in anti-terror steps and firing along the international border are also likely to figure during the discussions. The Indian delegation, led by Union home secretary Gopal K. Pillai, will engage in extensive deliberations with the Bangladesh team.
