Intel agencies to question IM man
The investigators, probing the Mumbai blasts, are expected to question Salman, a suspected Indian Mujahideen (IM) militant, arrested by the Anti-Terrorist Squad of (ATS) of the Uttar Pradesh police in 2010.
Besides this, officials of the Central agencies are also planning to interrogate Lashkar-e-Tayyaba’s key operative Mohammad Umar Madni, arrested by the special cell of the Delhi police in 2009, to probe the financial networks between LeT and IM in connection with the Mumbai blasts.
Questioning of Salman, wanted in several serial blasts in Uttar Pradesh, Gujarat, Delhi and Rajasthan, is being considered important as he was in constant touch with Mohisin Choudhary, a top IM operative active in the western part of the country who is wanted in connection with the Ahmedabad blast of 2008, before his arrest, sources said.
There are confirmed reports that Salman visited Maharashtra, Gujarat, Madhya Pradesh and Uttar Pradesh several times after returning from Pakistan in 2009.
“His interrogation will certainly provide certain clues to the investigators, probing the Mumbai serial blasts last week. It is also believed that Salman was in touch with Abdul Subhan Qureshi alias Tauqeer, another top operative of IM, during his stay in Siddhartha Nagar in Uttar Pradesh,” sources said.
