Interlocutors on J&K at the earliest: PC
The Centre on Friday said the interlocutors for holding a peace dialogue with all shades of opinion in Jammu and Kashmir will be appointed at the earliest but no time frame has been set for the same. “That will be done. We cannot give a time limit but the intention is to do it at the earliest,” Union home minister P. Chidambaram said on
Friday while addressing a press conference. The names doing the rounds for the job include Digvijay Singh, Prithivraj Chavan, Mehmood-ur Rehman, Salman Khurshid, Amitabh Mattoo and Mushirul Hasan.
To a question on whether the interlocutors would be politicians, Mr Chidambaram said: “Can’t disclose it now. When it will be decided, you will know.” The CCS meeting of September 25 had announced an eight-point initiative to address the unrest in the Kashmir Valley. The Centre had announced its decision to appoint a group of interlocutors to hold a “sustained dialogue” with various shades of opinion in J&K.
