IPS murder: CBI files chargesheet

The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) on Wednesday filed a chargesheet in the special CBI court in Indore against the prime accused Manoj Gurjar, 25, who is facing the charge of crushing under his tractor trolley young IPS officer Narendra Kumar Singh, who was posted as SDOP at Banmore in Madhya Pradesh’s Morena district.
Senior public prosecutor (CBI) A.H. Khan told this newspaper that the main accused has been charged under Section 304 of IPC, which relates to culpable homicide. He has also been charged under Section 353 of IPC for obstructing government functionaries to carry out their duty and Section 181 read with Section 3 of the Motor Vehicles Act. While the maximum punishment under Section 353 of IPC is two years, it is life imprisonment under Section 304. As per the chargesheet, the CBI during its investigation has not found any evidence to suggest either involvement of any mining mafia or deliberate murder, Mr Khan said, adding the court has fixed June 11 for the appearance of the accused, who is now lodged in Indore jail.
Narendra Kumar was crushed to death when he was trying to intercept a tractor trolley carrying illegally mined stones at Banmore on March 8, 2012. In the midst of allegations that the young police officer had been murdered in broad daylight by the mining mafia, state chief minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan took the initiative and the state government had transferred the murder case to the CBI.
State BJP president Prabhat Jha on Wednesday issued a statement saying that the CBI charge-sheet has established that Narendra Kumar had died in an accident.
Slamming the Congress party, he said that it had tried to politicise the death of a committed police officer under tragic circumstances by dubbing it as a murder by the mining mafia.

I want to begin with a little story that was told to me by a leading executive at Aptech. He was exercising in a gym with a lot of younger people.
