IT firm employee killed by lover
A 22-year-old employee of a multinational software firm was allegedly smothered to death in Madangir area of southeast Delhi on Wednesday night by a 28-year-old boy with whom she was to get married next week.
The police has arrested the accused, identified as Ravi Mishra, a native of Kanpur, and he has been charged under Section 302 of the IPC. Mishra, who works with a private company in Delhi, was having a love affair with the deceased Monica Jaiswal since the past three years.
The police said the family members of the accused didn’t want him to marry Monica as she belonged to a different caste and the accused had also lost interest in the girl, resulting in the murder.
During interrogation, Amit reportedly told the police that he had lost interest in Monica and didn’t want to go against the wishes of his parents. Amit had allegedly planned to kill Monica weeks before executing the murder on Wednesday night. The two were slated to get married on Monday in a Delhi court.
“Amit called up the parents of Monica on Thursday and told them that she was not responding to his calls. Monica’s parents arrived in the capital on Friday and when they reached Monica’s one-room rented accommodation in Madangir, they found the room bolted. The door was broken open. Monica was found lying dead on her bed and there were slight injury marks on her head. She was taken to the AIIMS Trauma Centre where doctors declared her brought dead,” a senior police official said.
“During investigations, it came to our notice that Ravi used to frequent Monica’s residence and was seen in the area on the night of the incident. When he was questioned, he feigned ignorance. However, he ultimately broke down and confessed to his involvement in the murder. He said that he was having relations with the girl since three years and she wanted to marry him. He kept avoiding her on one pretext or another over these years and had lost interest in the girl. He wanted to get rid of her as his parents were against the marriage,” additional commissioner of police (southeast) Virender Singh Chahal said.
Monica, a native of kanpur, was working with a leading multinational software firm in Gurgaon.
