Is it time for U’khand CM Bahuguna to go?
Uttarakhand chief minister Vijay Bahuguna is not stable if one goes by the current mood in the Congress headquarters here.
The central leaders of the party want to take some corrective steps in the organisation and the state government as well.
Mr Bahuguna became the chief minister in March last year on the support of the BSP and UKD since the Congress failed to get absolute majority in the state Assembly. But he was not the unanimous choice of the state party.
He was made chief minister at a time when was the sitting Lok Sabha member from Tehri Garwal. But the Congress had lost the seat in the byelection.
His handling of devastating floods in Uttarakhand a few months ago put a question mark about his ability.
Meanwhile, an agency report from Dehra Dun said after a spell of intermittent rains, weather in Uttarakhand cleared up on Monday, allowing the Border Road Organisation (BRO) men to fast-track the work of clearing various key roads blocked due to recurring lansdslips.
ADM Chamoli Sanjay Kumar said the Badrinath highway, which is blocked for past several days at Narayanbagad, will soon be reopened as the work gained momentum with the sun coming out.
National Highway number 109 in Rudraprayag district continued to be blocked in Semi but the work to remove debris is going on in full swing, an official said.
According to the MeT department, there were reports of light rains from some parts of the state, but the weather remained largely clear during the past 24 hours.
