Italian marines cheer country's entry into Euro Cup
When Mario Balotelli fired the first goal into the German net in the semi final of Euro Cup at Warsaw in Poland, the two Italian marines here thought for a while. They thought, how it would have been if they were back home at that hour.
But, when the second bullet shot from Balotelli shook the net of Germans, Latorre Massimilliano and Salvatorre Girone, the two marines accused in the Enrica Lexie firing case, threw themselves off their feet forgetting their past, present and future, and broke into a mood of celebration.
The two, staying at Hotel Trident in Willingdon Island since coming out of the Borstal School jail, were closely watching the Euro Cup from the beginning.
“They have been enjoying each and every match in the Euro Cup, especially the ones in which Italy was involved,” said a source in the hotel.
The source said the two marines enjoyed the matches by drinking beer and having sizzlers, their favourite snack.
On Thursday night, the duo and the other Italian delegates had their dinner early and were buckled up before time to watch their country march to the finals.
“The channel that telecast the Euro matches was not available in the beginning. So the marines and the delegates had asked us to fix the matter soon.
We managed to provide the channel immediately and they have been glued to the television since then,” said the hotel source.
Italy’s progress to the final was also cheered by Latorre Massimilliano’s friend, Baldi Lorena Pazhand, back in Taranto in Italy, who commented on Facebook, “Dedicating this win to the two Italian Marines in Indian prison.”
