Italian marines to head for Borstal School
An Italian delegation on Saturday agreed to Kerala police’s plan to move the two marines undergoing trial in the murder of two fishermen, to the Borstal School at Kakkanad in Kochi.
The school, where juvenile delinquents are housed, was visited by a four-member Italian team led by consul general Admiral Giampaolo Cutillo and military attaché Franco Favre.
Earlier in the day, the district sessions court in Kollam rejected the bail plea submitted by Italian marines Lattore Massimilano and Salvatore Girone.
Also, according to reports from New Delhi, the Italian foreign ministry has summoned Indian ambassador in Rome, Dabarata Saha, and “firmly signalled” to him that the judicial developments related to the Italian sailors were not acceptable.
