Jagan assets case: CBI to move on BCCI chief Srinivasan soon

Hyderabad: India Cements MD and BCCI chief N. Srinivasan will have to appear before the CBI court at Nampally after the court takes cognizance of the CBI’s chargesheet.The court will decide whether to issue summons or arrest warrants for Srinivasan and the other accused.Assistant solicitor general of India in AP High Court P. Vishunuvardhan Reddy said, “All the accused will have to attend the court in person as these are non-bailable offences. After taking cognizance of the offences, the court has the discretion to issue warrants or summons.”“If the court feels that the offences are serious and detention is necessary, then it will issue warrants and direct the CBI to arrest and produce the accused before the court.Sometimes, however, even though the offences are non-bailable, the court might feel that summons are sufficient and no arrest warrants are necessary. Then, summons will be iss-ued to the accused requiring his attendance on a particular date,” he said.
The CBI on Tuesday filed a chargesheet against Indian Cements managing director and BCCI president N. Srinivasan for alleged criminal conspiracy and cheating in the Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy’s illegal investments case.Three separate chargesheets were filed by the CBI led by DIG H. Venkatesh in the special court for CBI cases at Gaganvihar in Nampally in connection with conspiracies pertaining to India Cements, Raghu-ram (Bharathi Cements) and Penna Cements.YSR Congress president Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy, two IAS officials, M. Samuel and Aditya Nath Das, retired IAS official B. Krupanandam, industrialist Penna Pratap Reddy, promoter director of Raghuram Cements J. Jaganmohan Reddy and others were named as accused in the chargesheet.A total of 25 accused, including individuals and companies, were named in the three chargesheets.
