Jagan faces long jail stay
It was Frightful Friday for YSR Congress president Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy, with the CBI conducting raids on his properties in Hyderabad, and, separately, telling the Supreme Court that it had evidence to show that he had received `65 crore black money through hawala.
In another development, the top court rejected his application for bail. The Kadapa MP can now apply for bail only after the CBI completes its probe in all seven cases lodged against him, a bench of Justices Aftab Alam and Ranjana Prakash Desai ruled. “The contours are much larger,” the bench said.
While the CBI did not find cash on his properties in Hyderabad, it seized some papers which will be analysed.
The raids were supervi-sed by CBI’s Vizag DIG G. Nageswara Rao and SP ra-nk officials from Bengal-uru, as CBI-Hyderabad off-icials — joint director V.V. Lakshminarayana and SP H. Venkatesh — were in Delhi for the bail hearing.
Meanwhile, the CBI submitted to the apex court that during raids at the residences of the top brass of Dalmia Cements, it had found documents showing Mr Jagan Mohan Reddy having received `55 crore black money from the firm through the hawala route.
