Jagan issue: Rosaiah, Chiranjeevi meet Patel

Andhra Pradesh chief minister K. Rosaiah, who was in the capital for a day, had a series of meetings with the Central political leaders.
This assumes significance in the backdrop of reports that the Congress would act against rebel MP Jaganmohan Reddy for having telecast a one-hour programme criticising Congress president Sonia Gandhi and Prime Minister Manmohan Singh.
According to sources, Mr Rosaiah had an hour-long meeting with the political secretary of Mrs Sonia Gandhi, Mr Ahmed Patel, in the company of matinee idol and Praja Rajyam Party (PRP) president Chiranjeevi.
It is a known fact that Mr Chiranjeevi has been hobnobbing with the Congress for quite sometime. On Tuesday, the meeting between Mr Ahmed Patel, Mr Rosaiah and Mr Chiranjeevi assumes importance as the party seems to be contemplating action against Jaganmohan. The three are believed to have discussed the probable fallout of acting against the controversial MP.
Mr Chiranjeevi’s PRP has 18 MLAs in the Assembly but two of them are from Telangana who don’t see eye to eye with him on the issue of a separate Telangana state. The Congress high command believes that Jaganmohan may be able to wean away only a few MLAs in the event of his being punished for his rebellion.
The Andhra chief minister also met with Union defence minister A.K. Antony who happens to be the chairman of the Congress’ disciplinary committee and apparently discussed the issue of Jaganmohan’s recent rebellion.
Mr Rosaiah later called on Union home minister P. Chidambaram and apprised him of the recent cancellation of the sub-inspectors recruitment exam and related unrest in Andhra Pradesh. The two are also believed to have discussed the general scenario in Andhra Pradesh in the context of the Srikrishna report getting submitted to the Union government in a month’s time.

I want to begin with a little story that was told to me by a leading executive at Aptech. He was exercising in a gym with a lot of younger people.

Shekhar Kapur’s Bandit Queen didn’t make the cut. Neither did Shaji Karun’s Piravi, which bagged 31 international awards.
