Jagan link: Srini faces CBI heat
The Central Bureau of Investigation is all set to name beleaguered BCCI chief N. Srinivasan as an accused in the India Cements conspiracy in the Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy quid pro quo investments case.
Mr Srinivasan is the CMD of India Cements, which invested in Mr Jagan Mohan Reddy’s companies.
An investigating official said that the India Cements chargesheet has been sent to Delhi for final approval and both India Cements and Mr Srinivasan will be named as accused separately, along with the YSRC president, his auditor Vijay Sai Reddy and others.
“The draft of the chargesheet on the India Cements matter has been sent to the Central Bureau of Investigation headquarters in Delhi for approval. As soon as we get the nod we will file a chargesheet in the CBI special court at Nampally,” said an investigating official.
“In the Dalmia Cements case we named the company as well as its promoter, Puneet Dalmia. We did likewise in the Hetero Pharma and Aurobindo Pharma cases,” the official told this newspaper.
According to the CBI, India Cements invested `140 crore in Mr Jagan Mohan Reddy’s group of companies and in return allegedly received several benefits, such as being granted use of additional quantity of water from the Kagna and Krishna rivers and extension on a lease of land for a further 25 years.
The Central Bureau of Investigation has accused India Cements, in the FIR issued on 2011, of criminal conspiracy, cheating, criminal breach of trust, falsification of accounts and criminal misconduct.
BCCI chief Mr Srinivasan has been questioned twice by the CBI in Hyderabad since June 2012.
