Hyderabad: Bharathi Reddy, wife of Kadapa MP and YSR Congress president Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy wrote a letter to Prime Minister Manmohan Singh, seeking his intervention in the ongoing investigation illegal investments case against her husband.
She asked Dr Singh to show the nation and the people of AP that the country stands for justice and equity and not for victimisation and harassment.
She said that she was compelled to write the letters to the Prime Minister and the director of the CB I in view of the recent developments in the case which has left her and her family shocked, bewildered and victimised by the investigation process and left them with no doubt that this case is not being run on its merit.
She brought to the notice of the Prime Minister and the CBI director that in May 2013, when they approached the Supreme Court, seeking bail for her husband, the CBI said that they want four more months to complete the investigation.
The Supreme Court has directed the CBI to complete their probe in four  months, after which Mr Jagan would have a right to seek bail again. Bharathi said, “Merely minutes after the judgement was delivered, the CBI lawyer, while addressing the media immediately after the order was passed, indicating that the time limit was not binding on CBI and that they will find ground for seeking extension.”
She said that this clearly indicates mala-fide intent without bothering to attend to the investigation with alacrity. “I am afraid that there does not even seem to be a semblance of independence or conscience in the functioning of the CBI,” she added.
She complained to the Prime Minister against the CBI joint director and the investigation officer in the case by stating that she had a reason to believe that the case is being deliberately delayed, as was exposed by her husband’s political party. She alleged that the investigation officers were selectively leaking false, one-sided information of investigations for causing maximum damage to her husband and his party.
“I have strong reason to believe that it is the intention of the Congress-run CBI to keep my husband in custody until the General Elections, thereby hoping to gain political mileage,” she said and urged the Prime Minister to intervene in the matter and ensure a free and fair investigation in the case.
In a separate letter to the CBI director she pointed out who has given instructions to the CBI lawyer to state before the Supreme Court that another 4 months was needed to complete the investigation and the basis for it and also who has instructed the CBI lawyer Ashok Bhan to address the Media on behalf of CBI after the Supreme Court verdict on May 9, 2013 and make statements contrary to the verdict fixing a time limit?

I want to begin with a little story that was told to me by a leading executive at Aptech. He was exercising in a gym with a lot of younger people.

Shekhar Kapur’s Bandit Queen didn’t make the cut. Neither did Shaji Karun’s Piravi, which bagged 31 international awards.
