Jailer says Hasan not paralysed
Pune-based stud-farm owner Hasan Ali Khan, in Arthur Road Jail on money-laundering and tax-evasion charges, has suffered a paralytic stroke, his lawyer claimed on Saturday.
According to lawyer Ishwar Bagaria, Mr Khan suffered partial paralysis last week. “His upper body has been affected due to the stroke,” Mr Bagaria said, adding, “The jail authorities have not shifted him to a hospital yet... we will move court on Monday requesting that he immediately be provided treatment.”
However, when contacted, jail officials said Mr Khan’s health is normal. “He has no health problems,” an Arthur Road jail official said.
The Bombay high court had granted bail to Mr Khan in August but the Supreme Court it. Khan is alleged to have stashed black money worth $8 billion in Swiss bank accounts. He hit the headlines when the income-tax department raided his residences and came across documents that allegedly showed he had multiple bank accounts in Switzerland.
