Jain monk, others charged with rape
The police has registered a criminal case against five persons, including a Jain monk, for alleged rape with a teenaged girl Jain sadhvi. According to the police, the 15-year-old Jain monk complained that she was repeatedly raped by four people with the help of a Jain monk.
The teenaged Jain monk narrated her ordeals to Pawagarh police under Panch Mahal district in Gujarat while she returned Gujarat after staying Khivanda in Rajasthan’s Pali district. “We have a rape case registered against five persons, including a Jain monk at Khivanda police station when the Pawagarah police referred the matter to us,” said a senior police officer in Pali.
According to the FIR, Khivanda, Mahendra Jain, Ashok Jain of Sanderao, Phalna’s Mukesh and one Jain monk were named in the complaint. The victim said she took diksha [renunciation ] in Ahemdabad and was taken to Shivganj in Rajasthan for “badi diksha” [final renunciation].
The victim told the police that she was taken to Khivanda and where Mahendra Jain raped her at a religious place with the help of a Jain monk. The 15-year-old Jain sadhvi said this was not the end of her woes and rather three more people raped her. The victim narrated her ordeals to her father when she returned back to Ahmedabad. His father approached the police and sought action against the persons involved in the crime. “No arrest has been made so far. The investigation is going on,” said a police officer in Pali.
